Eel Princess

An early-reader chapter book, with illustrations for each chapter heading and important plot points, and spot illustrations. With handcrafted components like handmade paper, typewritten manuscripts, and all traditional mediums. All done to help stray from modernity to emulate an early folktale.

This project is a semester-long senior project for Minneapolis College of Art and Design. The final piece will include a pdf version, 15 illustrations (9 single page 11”x6.5”, 3 double-page spread 11”x13”, and 3 spot illustrations), a wrap-around cover and case, a comic, and a 110-page manuscript.

Secondly, the linework would be made using a nib pen in black ink, along with crosshatching and other line qualities.

Thirdly, charcoal would be used to create more contrast and further render the illustrations.
